SuperGeeky: Best Home-Brewed EVs

Submitted by joshua.davidson2 on Sat, 04/11/2009 - 19:53.

Brian Blocher's S2k EV, the sweet conversion of his 1993 Honda S2000 is a testament to ingenuity and dedication. Begun in July, 2008 under the fume-cloud of five-dollar gasoline, Brian persevered even as the price of liquid junk backed down. Brian drove the car to work for the first time last Tuesday, April 7!

Brian not only completed a meticulous conversion of the car, but got his workplace to install a charging station, invented and manufactured 45 cell balancers (dubbed the Volt Blocher) that allow even charge and drain of the lithium cells, convinced the DMV that the car should be registered, AND documented the whole thing on his blog, Honda S2000 Electric Vehicle Conversion with such detail and clarity that your dog build one following Brian's instructions. Oh yeah, and he and Mrs. Blocher had a son, when she wasn't helping him assemble Volt Blochers for sale to other EV builders (Get 'em at Volt Blocher - The Simple Solution to LiFePo4 Cell Balancing).

We're hoping Brian's next project is to clone Mrs. Blocher.
